Release Notes v0.9.2

Gday Vote Counters,
These are the release notes for this new update, or the more interesting changes at least, and a little comment on each of them as well.

Create Archive Groups from ‘Move To Archive’ button
No longer need to open the Archives window to create an Archive Group. Just makes it a little easier and more obvious.

Can now set Starting Round
Something that has been asked by a few people, can still just skip to the round during the presentation but now you can set it to open straight at a certain round

Function to copy data to a different location
Just a little tool to copy data from within the program instead of finding the Project Folder manually. Found under File – Copy SVC Data

Splashscreen no longer shows twice
Splash screen now waits until the program is fully ready before it disappears

Background images were not alternating
Quite a big bug that crept in at some point

Button to close full leaderboard
Probably the biggest thing that some people have been getting confused by is when they open the full leaderboard there was no button to close it, could only close it with a key press. Been looking at ways to do it since I implemented this new leaderboard at the start of the year but as the way the new full leaderboard is setup I couldn’t just add a button and have it work normally. Took a while for me to work out a nice way to do it but it is in there now.

Added ability to delete unmatched custom slide groups
When a vote file is deleted the custom slides will remain, now there is a tool to delete these unmatched slides. I may have it automatically delete these if you delete or archive the vote file in the future. Will have to think about that for a while though.

Ability to export licence file
A button next to the Import Licence button. Essentially just in case you need to change computers you can export the licence from one computer and import it into another in case you lose the original one.

Image Delete button cursor changed
Now has the pointer, should have been done from the start.

Ability to edit Player Image name
Matching player images to the actual player had always been a bit annoying and complicated. Instead of manually having to rename the images before you import them you can now just import the player images and select the player for each one.
This is just done from a little edit button next to the image.

Can choose between gradient or solid color for background
Had a request to have solid colours instead of a gradient so I’ve added a button so you can now have the current gradient or have a solid background with a border.
I actually really like it, it looks really good with a nice colour combination (Orange and dark grey for me). Am contemplating making it the default instead of the gradient.

SportingPulse renamed to SportsTG
Just keeping it up to date

‘Order By’ preference changed to ‘Display Order’ and ‘Reveal Order’
Another request, this now probably offers some orders that will never be used but you never know, someone may have a reason to use them.
I’ve had Ascending and Descending vote orders for a while that let you change if the highest or lowest vote is at the top however it has always revealed the votes from the top down. You can now still change if the highest or lowest is at the top (Display Order) but you can now also decide if you want the highest or lowest vote to be revealed first (Reveal Order).
You can just have a play and see what you prefer.

‘Color’ changed to ‘Colour’ in preferences screen
I promise I’m Australian

If presentation has no votes you will get a message to close presentation instead of showing final results screen
If there are no votes at the end of the presentation it will skip the final results screen and just ask if you want to close the window.

Empty votes files now still show custom slides
Thought I fixed this earlier you can now create a blank vote file (Manage Vote Files – Create – Blank) and enter your Award Custom Slides to that file so you can show your awards separately from any actual vote count. You don’t need any matches or rounds or anything inside this file just make sure when you create the custom slides you choose round 1 for them. It works pretty well.

In addition there are a bunch of bug fixes and other smaller improvements. My full list has 47 changes in this update which is more then double my next biggest update, this is just lots of smaller things instead of anything major.

Out of all of those changes I’d say biggest (at least from how often these will be used) are the ability to remove the gradient, using blank vote files for awards, set a starting round and close button on the leaderboard.
Again they are all quite small but are all sorely needed I think.

Barring any hidden bugs I’m expecting this to be the last update for the year as I don’t like releasing updates during the main vote count period which has pretty much already begun. This will give me plenty of time to work on some bigger changes for 2018.

Hope you all like the changes, I am very happy with how it has turned out. This update will be going live tomorrow evening.
As I shouldn’t be doing any major coding for a bit I’ll post again towards the end of September when I start looking for feedback from our clubs and leagues but until then feel free to comment or send us an email if you need anything at all.

Thanks everyone.
